Rajah is a legal technologist, and a technology and M&A lawyer.

Prior to founding Cobalt Lawyers, Rajah received his legal training in the corporate law group at Stikeman Elliott LLP in Toronto, as well as internationally for the Technology Media and Telecom group in the Dubai office of Clyde & Co. His particular focus on technology and small business comes from a passion in business and entrepreneurship. A serial entrepreneur himself, Rajah is the visionary behind products that solve many of the difficult elements of document research including the Diligence Monster, Dealprep and Policysaurus products that are widely used by our team and clients. Cobalt Lawyers added the moniker Cobalt AI in 2023 with the launch of AI abilities in the Clausehound software.

Rajah received his M.B.A. and J.D. degrees, from the University of Western Ontario Richard Ivey School of Business and the Faculty of Law respectively, during which time he was Co-President of Entrepreneurs@Ivey, a student-run entrepreneurship group, and the inaugural Student Director of the Western Business Law Clinic. Prior to that, Rajah attended the University of Waterloo and worked for more than a decade in the information technology industry, including three years as a software developer, and seven years as an Information Systems and Technology manager at both a major telecommunications company and at a financial services company.

Joshua Koudys

Chief Technology Officer

Joshua has been working in legal AI since before it was cool, contributing to research and open source work in the machine learning space. He leads technology at Cobalt and has been building Clausehound, the platform behind our work, since 2016, with one rule for AI in legal work: every result tied to its source, every change on the record, and a person accountable for what ships.

He began his career as an engineer at IBM, working inside the DB2 database engine and later as a subject-matter expert in web security, work that earned him a patent. In 2011 he founded Qaribou, a consultancy doing fractional CTO work before it had a name, and built geodata, document-processing and fintech products for everyone from civic nonprofits to large enterprises. He is a co-inventor of Clausehound's patented clause taxonomy (US Pat. No. 12,670,200) and holds a B.Eng. from Western University.
